Baseball Game Preview: Quincy Blue Devils vs. Geneseo Maple Leafs

The Quincy Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Geneseo Maple Leafs at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Quincy has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Quincy couldn't beat Alleman on Wednesday even though they stacked seven runs on them in the first inning. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Blue Devils, who until this game were averaging 4.08 runs allowed.

Noah Wells stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was James Day, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Geneseo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Morton 6-5.

Geneseo's victory bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Quincy, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-9-1.
