Softball Recap: Lafayette Beats Northwest Whitfield for Their Third Straight Win

LaFayette waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Northwest Whitfield Bruins. The result was nothing new for the Ramblers, who have now won three games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Marlie Day looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Emma Parker and Bralie Blevins did most of the damage at the plate: Parker went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Blevins went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave Blevins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma House, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

LaFayette kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

LaFayette picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 4-2. As for Northwest Whitfield, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. LaFayette is set to challenge their familiar foe Adairsville at 5:55 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Northwest Whitfield will take on rival Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
