Preview: Azusa Aztecs vs. Workman Lobos
Azusa has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Workman Lobos at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Azusa suffered their biggest loss since December 11, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 47-24 walloping at the hands of Sierra Vista. Azusa has struggled against Sierra Vista recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Workman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They took a hard 39-21 fall against St. Lucy's.
Azusa's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.2 points per game. As for Workman, their loss dropped their record down to 3-18.
Azusa strolled past Workman in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a score of 40-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Azusa since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
