Basketball Game Preview: South Allegheny Gladiators vs. Avonworth Antelopes

South Allegheny is 0-9 against Avonworth since February of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The South Allegheny Gladiators will head out on the road to face off against the Avonworth Antelopes at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, South Allegheny turned things around against East Allegheny on Thursday. They greeted the New Year with with a 40-25 victory over the Wild Cats. The Gladiators' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Avonworth, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 57-48 win over Millbrook last Saturday.

South Allegheny's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Avonworth, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

South Allegheny was taken down by Avonworth 50-13 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can South Allegheny avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
