Football Recap: Hart Skates Past West Ranch with Ease + How To Watch

Hart extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-2. They really took it to the West Ranch Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-21 win. With the Hawks ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Hart's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matix Frithsmith, who rushed for 142 yards and two TDs on only 14 carries, and also picked up 100 receiving yards and one touchdown. With that strong performance, Frithsmith is now averaging an impressive 104.4 rushing yards per game. Joshua Wagner also helped with two scores in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hart was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 153 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Hart, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Frithsmith, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

As for West Ranch, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 599th, while Hart is ranked 260th).

West Ranch's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Charlie Samuelson, who picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD, and Blake Johnson, who rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 65 yards.

Looking ahead, Hart will take on Castaic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks will be up against the Coyotes' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for West Ranch, they will challenge Saugus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' defense better be ready for this one: the Centurions have averaged an impressive 31.4 points per game this season.
