Soccer Game Preview: Northgate vs. Acalanes

The Northgate Broncos will venture away from home to take on the Acalanes Dons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Northgate is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.2 goals per game this season.

Northgate took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over Campolindo. The victory continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Sophia Fulp and Anjali Huber scored both of Northgate's goals, bringing their combined season tally to nine goals.

Meanwhile, Acalanes had just enough and edged College Park out 2-1 on Tuesday. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Falcons are ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northgate's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Acalanes, their record is now 7-3.
