Softball Game Preview: Van Meter Bulldogs vs. East Marshall Mustangs

The Van Meter Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the East Marshall Mustangs on Tuesday. Van Meter is coming into the game hot, having won their last 22 games.

Van Meter can't be too worried about heading out to take on East Marshall: they just beat Audubon at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Bulldogs walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Wheelers on Monday.

Meanwhile, East Marshall entered their tilt with Osage on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Green Devils.

Van Meter pushed their record up to 31-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for East Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 28-9.

Van Meter skirted past East Marshall 4-3 in their previous meeting back in July of 2024. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
