Basketball Game Preview: Centennial Broncos vs. Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals

The Centennial Broncos will challenge the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.

Centennial is headed into the match having just suffered their closest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Cross County by a score of 45-43. While losing is never fun, the Broncos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Cougars are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Doniphan-Trumbull). They came out on top against Wood River by a score of 58-46 on Friday. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but the Cardinals were the better team in the second half.

Centennial better keep an eye on Charlee Richter. She was instrumental in Doniphan-Trumbull's win, putting up 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Richter has scored at least a third of Doniphan-Trumbull's points. Another player making a difference was Camryn Engel, who posted 13 points.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, their record is now 3-18.

Centennial was able to grind out a solid win over Doniphan-Trumbull in their previous meeting on Monday, winning 47-37. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Richter, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.
