Basketball Game Preview: Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles vs. Northgate Broncos

The Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Northgate Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Clayton Valley Charter will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 25 points last Wednesday, then bounced right back against Benicia on Tuesday. Clayton Valley Charter was the clear victor by a 71-46 margin over Benicia. Given the Ugly Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Panthers are ranked 359th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Northgate came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Knights 57-30.

Northgate's win came from a few key players Clayton Valley Charter will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Samantha Myhr, who posted 17 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hana Neuman, who put up 16 points.

Northgate was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Las Lomas only posted two assists.

Northgate pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.2 points per game. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Clayton Valley Charter couldn't quite finish off Northgate in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 41-39. Can Clayton Valley Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
