Football Recap: Valencia Starts Season with Win Against Simi Valley + How To Watch

Valencia gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. Everything went their way against the Simi Valley Pioneers as they made off with a 28-7 victory. With the Vikings ahead 21-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Brady Bretthauer was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 172 yards and one score while picking up 9.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 143 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 172 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Valencia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Simi Valley only rushed for 56 rushing yards.

Valencia didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Rocco Testa and Elias Holloway.

Simi Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valencia will venture away from home to square off against Chaminade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Simi Valley, they will head out to face off against Shadow Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
