Recap: Ferndale Yellow Jackets vs. Rockwood Rockets
If the Ferndale Yellow Jackets were feeling good off their 43-19 takedown of the Turkeyfoot Valley Area Rams last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Ferndale fell just short of Rockwood by a score of 43-40. Ferndale lost against Rockwood in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 44-25 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Ferndale lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Deajah Chatman. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points along with eight rebounds. The match was Chatman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Abby Barley was another key contributor, scoring four points.
Ferndale now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Rockwood, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ferndale has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Harmony Area at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Harmony Area is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Rockwood, they will be playing at home against Northern at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Northern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rockwood in their respective states (Northern is ranked 114th in Maryland, while Rockwood is ranked 387th in Pennsylvania).
