Softball Recap: Irwin County Indians vs. Berrien Rebels

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Irwin County and Berrien meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Indians fell 4-1 to the Rebels. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Indians of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Brooklyn Gordon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Lyla Moore was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Irwin County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Berrien, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Irwin County and Berrien will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Indians are set to take on their familiar foe Turner County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Berrien will square off against rival Fitzgerald at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
