Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Franklin walked away with it. They took down the Fairfax Lions 54-35 on Wednesday. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won seven matches in a row.

Franklin can attribute much of their success to Ashley Medina, who posted 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those seven boards gave Medina a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ariana Pinedo, who scored 11 points.

Despite the loss, Fairfax saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mila Spencer went 7-for-14 on her way to 17 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Petty-Wright, who had seven points and six boards.

Franklin's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points over those games. As for Fairfax, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-55 defeat against Verdugo Hills on the 21st. Fairfax does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
