Football Recap: Academy of the New Church Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Academy of the New Church's offense. They had to suffer through a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Wyomissing Spartans. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 377th, while the Spartans are ranked 21st).

Academy of the New Church's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Wyomissing, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of the New Church will face off against Jenkintown at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wyomissing, they will challenge Northern Lebanon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Spartans' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
