Basketball Recap: Mt. Eden Takes a Loss

Mt. Eden played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 53-13 loss at the hands of the Del Mar Dons. The Monarchs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-7.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Del Mar to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zoey Hinkle, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was Hinkle's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mailey Japlit, who posted 13 points in addition to seven assists and three steals.

Mt. Eden's defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Del Mar, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Mt. Eden will face off against San Leandro at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Del Mar, they and Santa Teresa will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
