Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Hamilton Braves

Maxwell is 0-5 against Hamilton since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Maxwell Panthers the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Hamilton Braves at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Maxwell has not done well against Los Molinos recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Maxwell came out on top in a nail-biter against Los Molinos and snuck past 31-29. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Maxwell has posted yet this season.

Emma Hendrix was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Teresita Salazar, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Hamilton waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins but they left with six. They enjoyed a cozy 53-36 win over CORE Butte. Given Hamilton's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 551st, while CORE Butte is ranked 1116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maxwell has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Hamilton, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
