Basketball Game Preview: Hanford West Huskies vs. Sierra Chieftains

Hanford West has won four straight games at home, while Sierra has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Hanford West Huskies will host the Sierra Chieftains at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Tuesday, Hanford West humbled Washington Union with a 54-23 victory. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Sierra's strategy against Liberty on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Sierra blew Liberty out of the water with a 59-12 final score. With the Chieftains ahead 29-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Hanford West better focus on containing Aleeawa Badoni and Kinley Ferguson as the pair were huge in Sierra's win. Badoni almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine assists, while Ferguson went 7-for-13 on her way to 19 points and four steals. Badoni's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Bautista, who posted five points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games.

Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.1 points. As for Hanford West, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.
