Baseball Recap: Lincoln County's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lincoln County won the last time they faced Briarwood Academy and things went their way on Monday too. The Lincoln County Red Devils put the hurt on the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.

Hayden Hild tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and not a single walk).

At the plate, Lincoln County got a big performance out of Russell Gibson, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Huff, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lincoln County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

The win (which was Lincoln County's fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs over those games. As for Briarwood Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Lincoln County has already played their next match, a 9-7 victory against Westminster Schools of Augusta on the 25th. As for Briarwood Academy, they will face off against Lincoln County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Lincoln County's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four games.
