Basketball Recap: Chino Falls Despite Big Games from Zhya Holyfield and Tess Oldenburg

Chino and Oak Hills squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Chino had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Oak Hills Bulldogs by a score of 41-39. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Cowboys have suffered since November 21, 2023.

Despite the defeat, Chino had strong showings from Tess Oldenburg, who posted 23 points and eight boards, and Zhya Holyfield, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds. Holyfield has been hot for a while, having also posted three or more steals the last 12 times she's played.

Chino suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 22-6. As for Oak Hills, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.
