Football Recap: Liam Oconnor's Menacing Defense Leads Hauppauge over Half Hollow Hills West + How To Watch

Hauppauge had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 2-3 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 49-38 win over the Half Hollow Hills West Colts. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 47-17 victory the Colts walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

Liam Oconnor went supernova, rushing for 198 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Hauppauge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 225 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Half Hollow Hills West only rushed for 40.

Hauppauge didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Oconnor.

As for Half Hollow Hills West, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. They gained 160 more yards on the day, but it was Hauppauge that made the best use of them.

Half Hollow Hills West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Taff, who threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Another player making a difference was Jayden Smith, who picked up 192 receiving yards and three TDs.
