On Saturday Mount Vernon's undefeated season almost came to an end. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Riverwood Raiders. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 13-4 victory the Raiders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Mount Vernon's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Riverwood, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mount Vernon will welcome Whitefield Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Riverwood, they will square off against Sprayberry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
