Softball Recap: Callaway Triumphs

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Callaway brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They never let the Upson-Lee Knights get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Monday. The Cavaliers were shut out 8-0 the last time they took on the Knights, so the Cavaliers were just returning the favor.

Lilah Monteith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Monteith was also big at the plate, earning three RBI and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Ryleigh Seymour was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Ella Kelly was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Callaway hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

Callaway's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Upson-Lee, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Callaway will square off against Starr's Mill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Upson-Lee, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitewater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
