Football Game Preview: Humboldt Cubs vs. Prairie View Buffalos

The Humboldt Cubs will face off against the Prairie View Buffalos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Humboldt has given up an average of 29.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Humboldt is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 42 points two weeks ago, they were much more limited against Eureka on Friday. They took a blow against the Tornadoes, falling 34-6. The Cubs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-0.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Prairie View over Burlington in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Buffalos blew the Wildcats out of the water with a 48-13 final score. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-6.

The victory made it two in a row for Prairie View and bumps their season record up to 3-1. As for Humboldt, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Humboldt was able to grind out a solid win over Prairie View when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 46-35. Do the Cubs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buffalos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
