Football Recap: Alhambra Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Alhambra's offense. They had to suffer through a 56-0 loss at the hands of the Schurr Spartans. The Moors have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Bryan Leonard threw for 28 yards on five of 14 attempts.

Mateo Carrasco continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Schurr, rushing for 197 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. Carrasco has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-3 otherwise. Tyler Higashi was in the mix too, providing Schurr with two TDs.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Schurr, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Alhambra will challenge San Gabriel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Schurr, they will square off against Montebello at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans will be up against the Oilers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.13 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
