Football Recap: Lee Takes a Loss

After flying high against South Houston last Friday, Lee came back down to earth. The Ganders were beaten by the Goose Creek Memorial Patriots 79-30 on Friday. The Ganders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-22.

Despite the loss, Lee still got an impressive performance from Elijah Brown, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 98 yards and one TD on only five carries. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.

Leading Goose Creek Memorial to victory were Ricco Richards Jr. and Alijah Bright. Richards Jr. threw for 276 yards and three touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, while Bright gained 209 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Richards Jr. a new career-high in rushing yards (72). Joshua Babin was another key player, picking up 118 receiving yards and one TD.

Lee's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Goose Creek Memorial, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Lee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 48-7 loss against Sterling on the 12th. As for Goose Creek Memorial, they have also already played their next match, a 68-7 victory against Clear Brook on the 11th.
