Basketball Recap: Ridgway Elker vs. Eisenhower Knights
The Ridgway Elker waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 60-55 victory over Eisenhower. 60 seems to be a good number for Ridgway as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Despite the defeat, Eisenhower saw an underclassman step up: Clara Steinberg went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 35 points and 4 assists. That was a full 63.6% of Eisenhower's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Font, who scored 17 points.
Ridgway is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Eisenhower, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.
Ridgway won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Cardinals on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Pennsylvania (DuBois Central Catholic is ranked 165th, while the Elker are ranked 178th). As for Eisenhower, they will head out on the road to face off against the Yellowjackets at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
