Football Recap: Luke Taff's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Half Hollow Hills West over Hauppauge + How To Watch

Half Hollow Hills West extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hauppauge Eagles. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Half Hollow Hills West's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Taff, who threw for 345 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 43 yards and one score. Jayden Smith was another key player, picking up 192 receiving yards and three TDs.

As for Hauppauge, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-3 record. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Liam Oconnor had a dynamite game, rushing for 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Half Hollow Hills West will host Islip at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Colts will need to watch out since the Buccaneers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Hauppauge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Harborfields at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
