Softball Recap: Rangeview Comes Up Short

Rangeview extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-13-1. They came up short against the Denver North Vikings, falling 17-5. That's two games in a row now that the Raiders have lost by exactly 12 runs.

Jazmyn Nunez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Isabelle Clark also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

As for Denver North, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 13-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games.

On Denver North's side, Xavia Escobedo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Escobedo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jordyn Villarreal was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Veronica Loera-Tafoya was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Coming up, Rangeview will face off against Brighton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Denver North, they will take on Vista PEAK Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
