Football Recap: Liberal Makes It Three in a Row on the Road + How To Watch

Liberal hadn't done well against Dodge City recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Redskins walked away with a 31-22 victory over the Demons. This was payback for the Redskins, who suffered a 33-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Liberal found their leader in sophomore Tevin Cotter, who threw for 171 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown. The Redskins also got a significant boost from Landen McNabb, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.

When it comes to explaining why Dodge City lost, don't look at Kordell Howard. Despite the final result, he rushed for 81 yards and one score on only five carries, and also picked up 45 receiving yards and one TD. Howard's longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Ty Scheck also deserves some recognition as he passed for his first passing touchdown of the season.

Liberal's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-0. As for Dodge City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Liberal wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 39-35 victory against Garden City on the 3rd. As for Dodge City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-0 defeat against Great Bend on the 3rd.
