Basketball Recap: Leuzinger Takes a Loss

Leuzinger was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 57-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Burbank Bulldogs. The Olympians lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in December of 2014, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 75-44 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Leuzinger lost, don't look at Brianna Ike. Despite the final result, she went 7 for 16 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Ike a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Naijah Nelson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points.

Leuzinger's record is now 3-8. As for Burbank, their win bumped their record up to 7-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leuzinger will head out to take on Inglewood at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Burbank, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Notre Dame Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 26th.
