Preview: Grand Terrace Titans vs. Jurupa Hills Spartans

The Grand Terrace Titans will head out on the road to take on the Jurupa Hills Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

After soaring to a 28-point win in their last game, Grand Terrace came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of San Gorgonio by a score of 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Grand Terrace has suffered yet this season.

Grand Terrace's loss came about despite a quality game from Jayleen Barajas, who scored 31 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Barajas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Philosphy Heard was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Jurupa Hills, who are still winless after their 11th match. They suffered a rough 58-35 defeat at the hands of Fontana on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Jurupa Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1203rd, while Fontana is ranked 346th).

Grand Terrace bumped their record down to 15-7 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Jurupa Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything came up roses for Grand Terrace against Jurupa Hills in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 51-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grand Terrace since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
