Basketball Recap: West Park Comes Up Short

If West Park was riding high fresh off their 70-29 takedown of Cordova last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The West Park Panthers had to suffer through a 67-27 loss at the hands of the Antelope Titans. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 316th, while the Titans are ranked 68th).

When it comes to explaining why West Park lost on Friday, don't look at Callie Gemmell. Despite the final result, she posted two points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, West Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Antelope found their leader in freshman Londyn Odom, who had 20 points. Tiana Spain was another key player, putting up 13 points.

West Park's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Antelope, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.

West Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-49 loss against Grant on the 13th. Antelope has also already played their next game, a 65-15 victory against Cordova on the 13th.
