Football Game Preview: Sacred Heart Knights vs. Bennington Bulldogs

The Sacred Heart Knights will venture away from home to face off against the Bennington Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sacred Heart has three straight victories, Bennington has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Sacred Heart will bounce into Friday's game after beating Sedgwick, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Knights secured a 12-6 W over the Cardinals on Friday.

Sacred Heart's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dom Matteucci, who rushed for 104 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Matteucci has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, Bennington scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They were dealt a 62-12 loss at the hands of Valley Heights. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by exactly 50 points.

Bennington's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Sacred Heart, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Sacred Heart strolled past Bennington in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 31-12. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
