Basketball Recap: Rylee Gillespie's Big Game Can't Quite Lead East Nicolaus over Winters

East Nicolaus fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Winters on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Winters Warriors by a score of 45-43. The Spartans have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Rylee Gillespie, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makinze Massey, who put up 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Winters to victory, but perhaps none more so than Maci Dodic, who had 14 points. Skyler Neal was another key player, putting up 11 points.

East Nicolaus' defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Winters, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

East Nicolaus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 51-23 loss against Colusa on the 31st. As for Winters, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-23 win against Paradise on the 31st.
