Soccer Game Preview: Watsonville vs. Soledad

The Watsonville Wildcatz will head out to square off against the Soledad Aztecs at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Watsonville has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Soledad will arrive with six straight victories.

Watsonville lost 4-1 to Salinas on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcatz can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 652nd, while the Cowboys are ranked 61st).

Meanwhile, Soledad kept a clean sheet against Everett Alvarez on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 10-0 margin over the Eagles. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by three goals or more this season.

Watsonville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-2. As for Soledad, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.

Watsonville beat Soledad 2-0 when the teams last played back in November of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for Watsonville since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
