Basketball Recap: Hough Takes a Loss

Hough lost against Hopewell back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hough Huskies took a 53-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hopewell Titans. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while the Titans are ranked 45th).

Despite the loss, Hough still got an impressive performance from Evan Otto, who posted 12 points and five boards. Tre Ratliff was another key player, putting up seven points.

Arael Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hopewell, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Tre Gatlin, who scored eight points.

Hough has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season. As for Hopewell, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-3.

Hough wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 78-48 loss against North Mecklenburg on the 24th. Hopewell has also already played their next match, a 69-62 win against Harding University on the 24th.
