Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon). They had just enough and edged the Golden Valley Grizzlies out 2-1 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cowboys as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Canyon's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7-1 and their overall record up to 3-8-2. As for Golden Valley, they dropped their record down to 10-13-1 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.

Canyon and Golden Valley could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Canyon will face off against Valencia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday down 392 places (619 vs. 227). Meanwhile, Golden Valley (ranked 600th) will meet Saugus (ranked 46th) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
