Softball Game Preview: Pueblo West Cyclones vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans

Pueblo West has gone a perfect 5-0 against Fountain-Fort Carson recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cyclones will challenge the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Fountain-Fort Carson will be up against a hot Pueblo West squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. The Cyclones put the hurt on Pueblo Centennial with a sharp 16-2 victory on Monday. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by seven runs or more this season.

Kassidy Donley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Pueblo West let Bella Gregory and Peyton Kuhn run wild. Gregory got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Kuhn got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Kuhn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Briggs, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Pueblo West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pueblo Centennial only posted an OBP of .333.

Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson made easy work of Palmer on Monday and carried off a 17-2 win. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Terrors recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.

Fountain-Fort Carson now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Pueblo West, their record now sits at 15-6.

Pueblo West took their win against Fountain-Fort Carson in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 13-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cyclones since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
