Softball Recap: Ord Comes Up Short

Ord couldn't beat Grand Island Central Catholic on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Chanticleers lost 14-8 to the Crusaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chanticleers of the 11-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

Allison Wheeler was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Ladwig, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Ord and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-2.

Ord has already played their next match (against Fairbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Grand Island Central Catholic, they will be taking part in a tournament against Aurora at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
