Basketball Recap: West Takes a Loss

West lost against Lincoln back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The West Wolfpack had to suffer through a 78-36 loss at the hands of the Lincoln Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 700th, while the Trojans are ranked 54th).

West lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Janessa Hallman, who posted five points and five boards. That's the most rebounds Hallman has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Bravo, who earned seven points.

Lincoln found their leader in freshman Terrazia Smith, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Touraya Blakey, who went 7 for 15 en route to 19 points and five rebounds.

West's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

West has already played their next game (against Lodi), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Lincoln didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-30 win against Kimball on the 4th.
