Basketball Preview: Athens Wildcats vs. Towanda Black Knights
Athens is 2-8 against the Black Knights since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Athens Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Towanda Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Athens lost to the Trojans at home by a decisive 55-38 margin. While losing is never fun, Athens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 572nd, while the Trojans are ranked 167th).
Meanwhile, Towanda was beaten by the Spartans 63-4 on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Towanda has scored all season.
This is the second loss in a row for Athens and nudges their season record down to 6-11. As for Towanda, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
