Soccer Game Preview: Calamus-Wheatland vs. Pleasant Valley

The Calamus-Wheatland Warriors will take on the Pleasant Valley Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Calamus-Wheatland's offense. They came up short against Northwest on Saturday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Calamus-Wheatland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Northwest are ranked tenth).

Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, Pleasant Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Iowa City by a score of 1-0.

Pleasant Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-2-1. As for Calamus-Wheatland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8-1 record this season.
