Baseball Recap: Brookfield Takes a Loss

Friday just wasn't the day for Brookfield's offense. They fell just short of the New Fairfield Rebels by a score of 1-0 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in April.

Brookfield saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Nichols, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Brookfield's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-8. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for New Fairfield, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-3.

Brookfield didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 victory against Joel Barlow on the 11th. As for New Fairfield, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 3-2 win against Pomperaug on the 11th.
