Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Brimfield

Brimfield had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against the West Prairie Cyclones by a score of 7-2. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Indians also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2025.

Sean Crowe made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layne Johnson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Griffin Hougham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Brimfield's record now sits at 15-3. As for West Prairie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Brimfield will head out to challenge Havana at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.3, the Ducks 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for West Prairie, they are taking a road trip to take on Rushville-Industry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
