Basketball Recap: Leuzinger's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Leuzinger entered their tilt with Moorpark on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 61-54 victory over the Moorpark Musketeers.

Leuzinger was led to victory by Tatyana Aubry and Brianna Ike. Aubry went 8 for 20 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight assists and five steals, while Ike dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 boards. With that strong performance, Ike is now averaging an impressive 8.1 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sovereign Woods, who posted nine points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Leuzinger smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Moorpark lost, don't look at Maya Urteaga. Despite the final result, she put up 27 points along with six boards and five assists. That was a full 50% of Moorpark's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Olivas, who had six points.

Leuzinger's win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Moorpark, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-4.

Leuzinger didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-47 victory against Legacy on the 3rd. As for Moorpark, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 50-38 win against Viewpoint on the 3rd.
