Recap: Branham Bruins vs. Ann Sobrato Bulldogs
The Branham Bruins waltzed into their match on Tuesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-32 victory over Ann Sobrato. Given Branham's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Ann Sobrato is ranked 363rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Branham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quinn Godfrey led the charge by scoring 12 points. Another player making a difference was Rebecca Sung, who scored 11 points.
Branham pushed their record up to 14-1 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Ann Sobrato, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Branham's road trip will continue as they head out to face Leland at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Leland is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Ann Sobrato, they will be playing at home against Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
