You might not recognize the power rankings this week after a busy last week rearranged the teams a whole lot. The action included a dizzyingly high 112-point combined score from Buffalo and Cambridge-Isanti.
Can't Touch This
Owatonna's 28 - 7 win over Century last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Jason Williamson. Williamson ran for 242 yards and also punched in two touchdowns. That performance landed Williamson among the top power-ranked players for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
The clash of the power ranking titans last week was between Edina (12th in the power rankings) and Minnetonka (18th). Edina finished its game with a 21 - 7 win. The victory boosted it a satisfying six spots in the power rankings.
No Stoppin 'Em
It was another game, another high-octane performance for Buffalo last week (their 3rd in a row). It blew past Cambridge-Isanti 70 - 42. Buffalo did have the odds in its favor, but the team did even better than the MaxPreps state rankings indicated. At 112 total points, this was the highest scoring power ranking game of the week.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Prior Lake (10th in the power rankings) and Lakeville North (1st). This will be the second consecutive road game for Lakeville North. Both the Prior Lake and Lakeville North defenses have allowed few points this year (averaging 11 ppg and 11 ppg, respectively), so the teams might find scoring more difficult than usual this week.
