Recap: Compton Early College Rising Phoenix vs. Dominguez Dons
The Compton Early College Rising Phoenix had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. Their rough 31-10 defeat to Dominguez might stick with them for a while. Compton Early College lost against Dominguez in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-27 score last time.
Among those leading the charge was Ariel Walker, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Dominguez's points. Ashley Cruz was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 3 steals.
Compton Early College's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Dominguez, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Compton Early College will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Summit View West at 3:00 p.m. As for Dominguez, they will square off against Compton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Compton is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
