Baseball Recap: Palatine Comes Up Short

After flying high against Rolling Meadows on Friday, Palatine came back down to earth. The Pirates lost 11-1 to the Conant Cougars on Monday. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Palatine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Salata, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Palatine has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-12 record this season. As for Conant, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-11-1.

Coming up, Palatine will welcome St. Patrick at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Conant will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' contest: after the Pirates face off against the Shamrocks, they'll take on Conant again at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
