Basketball Recap: University Takes a Loss

University lost against Cerritos back in December of 2014 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The University Trojans took a hard 49-34 fall against the Cerritos Dons. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 846th, while the Dons are ranked 407th).

When it comes to explaining why University lost, don't look at Sheridan Bogard. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 boards. Ai Miyano was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Even though they lost, University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

University has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Cerritos, they moved to 4-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

University didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-30 defeat against Cypress on the 14th. As for Cerritos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 48-44 loss against Los Alamitos on the 14th.
